Announcements

The Little Folks Fellowship nursery school, a ministry of our church for over 30 years, is nearing the end of the school year. They have done well to remain "in the black," but just barely. There are several needs right now for which there are insufficient funds, due to lower-than-expected enrollment. Perhaps you can contribute one or more of the following: a large room-size rug, a glue gun, a roll of Velcro, rolls of masking tape. A "special dream" is to have a photocopier for the school. If you can contribute any of these, please see Mara Bradford (benandmara@verizon.net).

Needs and Concerns

Naa is visiting her nephew in Virginia, whose daughter just died back home in Ghana. Please pray for them and for all the family as they mourn, that they may be encouraged by their hope in Christ.

Let's pray for Ruth, a resident of nearby Youville House, as she recuperates from a recent knee replacement. May she be able to join us for worship again soon.

Parents of students, faculty members, survivors, and many others are reeling from the tragic mass shootings last week at Virginia Tech. As people the world over try to comprehend this incomprehensible loss of young lives, may they cry out to, and know the presence of, the Lord who likewise suffered violence and death.

The recent suicide bombing inside the Iraqi Parliament Building is a grievous reminder of the hatred with which the evil one grips human hearts. Pray that the Holy Spirit may frustrate the plans of those who plot violence, and strengthen the hearts of those who work for peace.

Thanks and Praise

What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we've been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven - and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you'll have it all - life healed and whole. (Paraphrase of 1 Peter 1:3-5 from The Message by Eugene Peterson)

Celia is grateful that her little granddaughter Desiree, after several hospital visits, was finally diagnosed, treated, and cured of pneumonia. Thank the Lord for his healing mercy.

YWCA Diaper Drive

A "diaper drive" is underway, sponsored by our Deacons, to benefit the women's and children's shelter of the Cambridge YWCA.

Diapers of all sizes, baby-care products, and care items for moms are needed. Twin bed sheets and crib sheets are also especially welcome. Please contribute what you can between now and Mother's Day, May 13.

Singing the Faith

"Singing the Faith: Music for Mission, Faith and Community" is the theme of our upcoming Presbytery Day, Saturday April 28th, 9am - 3pm at the Newton Presbyterian Church.

Besides some very able worship leaders and singers, there will be several workshops, such as "Great Kids' Music for Church," "Sacred Harp Singing," "Cameroonian Chant," and more.

Lunch ($10) will be catered by Blue Ribbon BBQ. See the flier posted in the side room, and PLAN TO COME!

Pastor Bart's 65th Birthday Party!

To celebrate Pastor Bart's 65th birthday, Priscilla and Rachel are hosting a tropical party at the Kelso's home on April 21st from 3pm - 7pm. As the house and surroundings are not child-proof, the event is for adults.

Let's celebrate Bart's birthday and the end of winter! Wear bright colors!

Please RSVP to Priscilla at plkelso@verizon.net by the end of today, April 15!

Needs and Concerns

A friend of the church, living nearby, is in tremendous pain over a conflicted relationship. Pray for God's guidance and peace for her.

Pray for the survivors of the recent tsunami in the Solomon Islands; pray also for those who are working to provide relief and healing there.
